This document reports on the studies carried out by EDP Produção for assessing the impact of, and preparing optimization proposals for, the implementation of the Baixo Sabor Fire Risk Reduction Plan (FRRP). These studies were conducted by GiFF – Gestão Integrada e Fomento Florestal, Lda, and by APLIXAR – Expertise in Applied Research, Lda.

As for the impact of the FRRP, these two external organizations focused on collecting evidence on three levels: (1) natural heritage protection; (2) fire risk reduction; and (3) the economic dynamics of local communities.

Evidence relating to the first and second levels resulted from the collection of extensive statistical data and field visits to the areas where the FRPP has been implemented.

The third level involved collecting evidence on the dynamics of the introduction and expansion of EDP's initial investment in the local community through the project stakeholders - the three associations comprised in Grupo Nordeste -, including the 15 members of these organizations in the process, as well as statistical data on the region.
