The Santo Antônio do Jari hydroelectric station, with an installed capacity of 373.4 MW, represents an investment of 1.1 billion reais (about EUR 360 million).

The Santo Antônio do Jari hydroelectric station, an EDP Group and CWEI Participações venture located on the Jari river- on the border between the states of Pará and Amapá - has been given a permit from the Brazilian Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) to begin the commercial operation of its first generating unit, with a 123.3 MW capacity.
With this permit, the station - which has an installed capacity of 373.4 MW and represents an investment of 1.1 billion reais - enters into operation three months before the initial plan. It should be noted that the Jari hydroelectric station has negotiated part of its energy in the 2010 A-5 Auction, and its operations were expected to start on January 1, 2015.
This generating unit began supplying energy to the National Interconnected System in the first testing phase last August 26, and during this period it generated 52,552 MW/h.
The remaining generating groups - two of which with an installed capacity of 123.3 MW and another one with 3.4 MW - are in an advanced commissioning stage to gradually obtain the necessary testing test and commercial permit.
