Monday 13, November 2017

The 1st edition of the Diversity Seal had 29 entries from 16 organisations who had signed the Portuguese Diversity Charter, a voluntary initiative that wants to encourage employers and organisations to implement and develop diversity promotion policies and practices.

EDP won the most prizes by winning a Diversity Seal in the ‘Professional development and career progress’ category and three honourable mentions in the ‘Organisation culture’, ‘Recruitment, selection and personnel management practices’ and ‘Working conditions and accessibility’ categories.

The Diversity Charter is a European Commission initiative under the scope of the Europe 2020 Strategy which was adopted by Portugal. Employers in various sectors (state, private and whether for profit or not) can voluntarily sign the document. It describes specific measures to encourage diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace, regardless of cultural, ethnic and social origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, physical characteristics, lifestyle or religion.
