EDP University Challenge reaches its 13th edition with new prizes

Wednesday 06, March 2019

The winner of the Portuguese, Spanish and Brazilian editions will win a trip to Silicon Valley

EDP University Challenge - an EDP initiative aimed at university students - is back with a new format. The program's 13th edition includes several new challenges and brings together, for the first time, the three countries where it is available - Portugal, Spain and Brazil - under a global award.

The motto for this year's edition is 'The future'. In Portugal, participating groups will have to use existing technologies, such as augmented reality, to create the EDP Store of the Future. In Brazil and Spain the mottoes are the House of the Future and the Energy of the Future, respectively.

Registrations are open and all Engineering, Management and Marketing students enrolled in universities can apply. Teams can have two or three members and should apply at www.edp.com/edpuniversitychallenge until March 24.

15 teams from each country will be selected to participate in the local final, from which the three winning teams will emerge. Each of these teams will get a monetary prize of €1,200, while their teachers will receive €400. The nine winning teams from the three countries will then attend the program's bootcamp and global final, to be held in Lisbon in October, where the winning team will be announced and win a trip to Silicon Valley.

Available in the three countries, the global campaign will be based on the “challenges” that have gone viral on social media in recent years, encouraging the public to invest their talent on a real challenge - the EDP University Challenge.

EDP has partnered with Premivalor Consulting, Spark Agency and Tekever to maintain the quality and prestige of this entrepreneurship competition for university students.
