Thursday 04, April 2019

Tickets have a symbolic price of €5 and all ticket proceeds will be donated to CERCICA Cascais

The 16th edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ raises the bar and adds an extra night to the seven previously scheduled dates. Charity has been a crucial aspect of the latest EDPCOOLJAZZ editions, and this year EDP has decided to ramp up this commitment by holding a charity concert. The Black Mamba and Churky will be performing at Hipódromo de Cascais on July 27 and all ticket proceeds will be given to CERCICA (Cooperative for the Education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Citizens of Cascais). Tickets have a symbolic price of €5.

The line-up for July 27 features renowned band The Black Mamba, who have won the hearts of Portuguese audiences with their blend of blues, funk and soul, as heard n their latest album, 'The Mamba King'. Before that, Portuguese artist Churky (Diogo Rodrigues), who has won the 2018 edition of the EDP Live Bands competition, will be showcasing his debut album 'É'.

The festival has also announced the line-up for CASCAIS LAZY SUNDAYS, a series of free-admission music events at the gardens of Casa das Histórias da Paula Rego (Cascais), every Sunday at 7 pm. Journalists, programmers, directors and photographers become DJs for an afternoon, playing disco, funk, soul, jazz, r&b, and all the sounds that make up the festival's DNA. The line-up for the 2019 edition of Cascais Lazy Sundays features Rui Miguel Abreu, Isilda Sanches, João Pedro Moreira and Natasha Cabral.

As in previous years, EDP will ramp up its commitment to managing CO2 emissions and reducing their impact on the environment - an effort that has been recognized with several accolades and awards. Taking the year 2018 as an example, EDPCOOLJAZZ has neutralized 398 tonnes of CO2, which were offset by replacing the fuel used in three ceramic factories located in the state of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

EDPCOOLJAZZ kicks off on July 7 with a session by Rui Miguel Abreu (as part of the CASCAIS LAZY SUNDAYS sessions) and will go on until the closing concert by legendary German band Kraftwerk on July 31, at Hipódromo Manuel Possolo in Cascais.

The line-up for the 16th edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ includes Diana Krall, Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum, Snarky Puppy, Jacob Collier, The Roots, Jessie J, and Kraftwerk.
