Tuesday 26, January 2021

The certification recognizes EDP as one of the most attractive companies to work for in Portugal. The distinction was also attributed to EDP Renewables.

For the first time, EDP has been recognized as Top Employer in Portugal, an entity that certifies companies with best practices in recruiting and managing people. This distinction is yet another proof of the company's dedication and commitment to its employees. The implementation of the best human resources policies and people management practices in order to improve the experience of professionals in the company is a priority.

Despite the challenges experienced by everyone in 2020, EDP started the TOP Employer certification process and demonstrated that it is cares about the experience of all its employees, positioning itself more and more as one of the best companies to work for in Portugal. An example of this are the various programs to captivate young people, such as the EDP Professional Internship and the EDP Trainee Program, and some new programs, in 2020, such as the EDP Ambassador and the EDP Recal; as well as all the work flexibility measures, such as remote work, mental and physical health programs and other benefits; and the developing and leadership programs, among other achievements.

In addition to EDP, EDP Renowables has also received this recognition and, for the third consecutive year, is considered one of the best companies to work in six countries where it is present: Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Poland and Romania – thus obtaining the European certification of TOP Employer.

"Both at EDP and at EDP Renewables, we firmly believe that people and their talent are the foundation of our companies. This philosophy was the foundation that allowed us to be awarded the prestigious Top Employer certification. In a difficult year for everyone, we can continue to create the ideal conditions so that our team can grow both professionally and personally. We are committed to each employee who is part of the EDP group and we want to continue to be a model of good human resources practices," says Miguel Stilwell de Andrade, CEO of EDP.

The Top Employers Institute's certification program is based on the participation and research results of best human resource practices. This certification process evaluates 600 people development practices in ten areas: talent management strategy; workforce planning; talent acquisition; onboarding; learning and development; performance management; leadership development; career benefits and succession management.

Participating organizations are validated, certified and recognized as reference employers through the Top Employers Institute Certification Program, which has certified more than 1,600 organizations in 120 countries and regions.
