
EDP launches electricity campaign with offer for new customers
‘Whoever chooses to have more, now pays less’ is the motto of the new multimedia campaign, which aims to reinforce EDP Comercial's position as a leading and renowned company in Portugal, close to customers and committed to providing competitive offers.
With the launch of the new multimedia advertising campaign, available from today at the national level, EDP intends to reinforce its leadership in the free electricity market in Portugal and consolidate itself as a benchmark sustainability partner with competitive offers for customers.
Under the motto "Those who choose to have more, now pay less", EDP intends to present an offer launched for new customers, with a total discount of €50 spread over the next 10 months, on the electricity bill, combined with the choice of a reliable partner that offers innovative, sustainable and competitive solutions for a greener future. For green electricity and natural gas subscriptions, the discount can reach €60.
The offer focuses on EDP Comercial's new electricity price, which has been reduced by 7% on average as of 1 January. It is also cumulative with the other discounts and partnerships in place, such as the partnership with NOS, which allows EDP customers to have access to an additional 2% discount on their energy bill and twice the mobile data in the NOS package; or the partnership with BP, which allows EDP customers to have access to credits up to €10/month on the energy bill.
In the advertising spot, a man walks in nature while highlighting attributes that the Portuguese associate with the EDP brand, such as its market leadership, proximity and the trust it generates in consumers, reflecting that, for this, it is necessary to pay a small price. Unexpectedly, the protagonist hits a glass barrier, symbolizing a surprise that turns into a promotional splash: a €50 discount on the electricity bill in 2025, for new EDP customers. In the end, he concludes that making the best choice now is possible for a lower price.
The multimedia campaign was developed and recorded in Portugal and will be present on television, radio, social media, digital, billboards and stores in the coming weeks. The creative concept was created by Nossa, the agency that manages the EDP Comercial account, and the Wavemaker media agency was behind the media planning.
To join this new offer, consumers can use the company's usual channels (edp.pt website, telephone lines or EDP Comercial stores and agents throughout the country).
With more than three million residential customers in Portugal, EDP believes that the energy transition will only be possible if families and companies are part of this movement. Therefore, it has sought to lead the market with innovative solutions that allow the adoption of more sustainable and efficient choices, such as electricity offers adjusted to different customer profiles, energy efficiency product packages and benefits for the daily lives of customers, such as EDP Packs, solar panels or electric mobility, personalized advice services, consumption management tools and integrated solutions such as solar systems with batteries or solar systems with efficient water heating.
In 2024, Portuguese consumers elected EDP Comercial as the ‘Recommended Brand’ for the fourth consecutive time in the ‘Electricity and/or Gas – Great Free Market’ category. This distinction reflects the company's consistent performance and commitment to customer satisfaction over the past few years.
