EDP sells portuguese tariff deficit for 384 million euros

Pursuant to the terms and for the purposes of the established in article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council and of article 248-A of the Portuguese Securities code, EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”) is providing the following information to the market and to the public in general:

EDP Serviço Universal, S.A. (“EDP SU”), the last resort supplier of the Portuguese electricity system, 100% owned by EDP, agreed, through eight individual non-recourse transactions, the sale of 10.4% of the 2017 tariff deficit and 26.1% of the 2018 tariff deficit, both related with special regime generation, for a total amount of €384 million.

These tariff deficits resulted from the 5-year deferral of the recovery of the 2017 and the 2018 overcosts with the acquisition of energy from special regime generation (including adjustments for 2015 and 2016, related to the 2017 tariff deficit and for 2016, and 2017, related to the 2018 tariff deficit).
