Speeding up the digital transformation process for hydro and thermal energy production through artificial intelligence and predictive analytical tools - such is the goal of the X.FIT project, a partnership between EDP and General Electrics which will make it possible to manage assets in a more efficient way, optimize operations, and redefine maintenance strategies.

The project comprises teams from EDP's electricity generation companies in Portugal and Spain, and includes a Monitoring and Diagnostic Center which provides real-time analyses of large volumes of information produced by the plants' equipment.

This allows for continuous monitoring of the equipment's performance, anticipating risks and potential failures. The Center's predictive capacity fosters the rationalization of Operation and Maintenance costs, improving the efficiency and availability of the plants.

Dentro de tres años, el X-Fit pretende llegar a casi todos los centros de producción térmicos e hídricos en Portugal y España, lo que permitirá que EDP pueda hacer frente a los retos impuestos por el mercado y el contexto regulatorio.

En 2019 volvió a ganar un premio en los Portugal Digital Awards. El proyecto X.FIT, que fue considerado el 'Mejor Proceso Operativo Digital', se destacó en esta iniciativa que distingue los proyectos más disruptivos e innovadores en el contexto de la transformación digital, lo que refleja el compromiso que el Grupo EDP ha hecho para digitalizar el negocio y adoptar nuevas tecnologías.
