Project overview

Alabama Solar Park will be located in northwestern Genesee County, New York, with facilities located in the towns of Alabama, Oakfield, and Batavia. Land agreements totaling 2,000 acres have been signed, with approximately 550 acres that will be utilized for solar energy infrastructure. 

Powering New York
Alabama Solar's generation will be equivalent to the consumption of more than 40,000 New York homes. The solar park will also complement the area’s agricultural resources, providing farmers with a stable, drought-resistant cash crop in the form of landowner lease payments.

Project Permitting

Application status

EDP is planning on submitting their Article VIII Application to the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) in October/November 2025.

Application materials

Materials will be uploaded to this website upon submittal to ORES.
Hard copies will be available at the Office of Renewable Energy Siting, each respective municipal town hall, and the Haxton Memorial Public Library for public review.

Permitting Process

Upon filing of the Article VIII Application, Alabama Solar will post funding ($1,000/MW), which can be sought by local community intervenors and host municipalities. Seventy-five percent (75%) of funds are reserved for municipalities. 

Application for funds must be submitted within 30 days of the date the Article VIII Application is filed. Applications for intervenor funds can be submitted to:
