What we do

The United Kingdom is one of the core markets in Europe

EDP has a very robust position in Europe, which enables us to have a competitive advantage in terms of our ability to manage market risk. In this sense, our portfolio offering and geographical scope position EDP as a reference expert in the energy transition, to establish strategic partnerships with global clients to accelerate their energy transition.

In the United Kingdom, our diversified portfolio includes wind and solar energy projects and, more recently, battery storage solutions. This diversification highlights our commitment to advancing renewable energy technologies in the region.

A key component of our renewable energy strategy is our involvement in offshore wind development through Ocean Winds, a joint venture owned by EDP Renewables and Engie. With a significant presence in Scotland's offshore wind industry since 2009, when we began developing Moray East—Scotland's largest wind farm, with a capacity of 950 MW—we have not only introduced an innovative project in Moray Firth, but also set a new industry standard in Scotland. These initiatives underscore our dedication to expanding renewable energy and promoting innovation within the industry.
