With registrations until August 4th, the selection aims to support social, sports, and health-related actions

EDP, a company operating across all segments of the electric sector, has opened applications for its Call for Projects: Yes to Caring for the Future. The company plans to allocate up to R$ 8.4 million to social, sports, and health initiatives through Brazil’s Federal Sports Incentive Law, the Elderly Law, the Child and Adolescent Fund, and the National Support Programs for Oncology Care (Pronon) and for the Health of People with Disabilities (Pronas). Applications are open until August 4.

Eligible projects must be based in one of the following nine states: Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, São Paulo and Tocantins. The initiatives should aim to improve living conditions and promote the socioeconomic development of local communities by offering training and education for job and income generation; valuing cultural diversity; promoting access to sports, health, and quality of life; protecting biodiversity; raising awareness about climate change; or contributing to a just energy transition.

“This call for proposals reaffirms EDP’s commitment to providing experiences and opportunities for communities in the regions where we operate. These are social, sports, and health and wellness initiatives that reflect our goal of contributing to a better, fairer, and more inclusive society”, says Dominic Schmal, ESG Director for EDP at South America.

In addition to compliance with the respective incentive laws, project evaluation criteria include location, objectives and deliverables, indicators and targets, social impact, among other factors. Priority will be given to itinerant projects or those that reach more than one state. The evaluation and selection process, which runs from August to September, includes eligibility screening, quantitative assessment and ranking, technical alignment and selection, and documentation and compliance review.

The final results will be announced on December 4, and funds will be disbursed by December 30, 2025. Selected projects will receive support throughout the 2025–2026 biennium.

This call complements other EDP initiatives, such as the Energia Solidária notice, and aligns with Y.E.S. – You Empower Society, the company’s global program to develop and support social responsibility projects for a just energy transition.

Eligible Project Categories:

Sports – Projects that use sports as an educational and inclusive tool, benefiting children and youth and democratizing access to sports as a means of full citizenship, preferably focusing on surfing and running.

Children and Adolescents – Projects should focus on environmental, digital, and financial education, aiming to complement and support formal education, foster entrepreneurship and income generation, and provide access to art, culture, and sports.

Elderly – Projects should prioritize health and care, while also promoting access to culture, art, and sports. Initiatives should also aim to improve quality of life and well-being, offer training and capacity-building, and promote digital experiences.

Health – Projects that work in cancer prevention and treatment or promote health initiatives for people with disabilities.
