EDP launches the sixth edition of Entama, its support program for local entrepreneurs
EDP, a leading global renewable energy company, has opened applications for a new edition of its local entrepreneurship support program, Entama. In this sixth edition, the initiative continues to foster economic growth and job creation in the municipalities where the company operates. Entama promotes equal opportunities, inclusion, and environmental improvement, serving as a tool to strengthen EDP’s commitment to local communities by driving municipal development and combating rural depopulation.
Entama continues to grow each year, and in this 2025 edition, it will support flagship projects in Cádiz — municipalities of Los Barrios, San Roque, and La Línea de la Concepción — and Asturias — municipalities including Allande, Aller, Belmonte de Miranda, Cangas del Narcea, Carreño, Caso, Corvera de Asturias, Degaña, Gozón, Ibias, Laviana, Lena, Llanera, Mieres, Morcín, Proaza, Quirós, Ribera de Arriba, Riosa, Salas, Santo Adriano, Sobrescobio, Somiedo, Teverga, Tineo, and Villaviciosa. The program aims to promote employability and help retain population in areas at risk of depopulation.
As in previous editions, special emphasis will be placed on projects led by women or those with potential to increase female employability, responding to one of the key priorities identified by EDP and aligned with its strong commitment to equality and equity.
To date, the program has supported over 56 projects, reaching a total investment of €605,000 since its inception. These initiatives cover a range of areas such as promoting local resources and artisanal products, encouraging sustainable tourism, and fostering digitalization, innovation, and service creation in rural areas at risk of depopulation.
Applications will remain open until July 4, and the jury — which will evaluate proposals throughout July — will prioritize viability, sustainability, and regional impact. The results will be announced on September 15, with projects to be developed throughout 2026.
The program guidelines are available on the Entama website, which includes a private area where applicants can submit their proposals. The website also features a space to create synergies among “entamadores” — entrepreneurs committed to their communities who aim to generate social value and impact — encouraging collaboration and shared growth.
In previous editions, Entama supported projects such as a tourist train in Brañagallones (Redes Natural Park) and Agrolinera, an integrated waste management project for dairy producers in Picos de Europa National Park (Asturias); and in Cádiz, initiatives like Entolsur, which promotes sports and nature activities along the Palmones River (Los Barrios), and the 1972 Food & Drinks – Boat House floating restaurant in La Línea de la Concepción, among others.
Entama is EDP’s most impactful local community program, earning recognition from the UN Global Compact for its contribution to SDG 11: Sustainable Communities. Following its success in Spain, the first edition of Entama Portugal has now been launched, aimed at attracting business projects in the Minho and Trás-os-Montes regions.
