This program supports local entrepreneurs and fosters wealth and job creation in areas at risk of depopulation.

EDP has launched a new phase of the sixth edition of Entama, its program to support local entrepreneurship and boost rural communities, which for the first time will be implemented jointly in Spain and Portugal. This expansion establishes Entama as an Iberian project, reflecting EDP’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

In this new phase, projects may be submitted from new areas in Burgos, Huesca, Cantabria, Asturias, and Lugo (Spain), as well as from the Douro region in Portugal.

Specifically, in Burgos, the call is open to priority municipalities where EDP operates wind farms, including Barrios de Colina, Carcedo de Burgos, Cardeñadijo, Castil de Lences, Castil de Peones, Estépar, Fresno de Rodilla, Merindad del Río Ubierna, Modúbar de la Emparedada, Monasterio de Rodilla, Poza de la Sal, Quintanavides, Santa María del Invierno, Valle de las Navas, Villamiel de la Sierra, and Villoruebo.
In Huesca, eligible municipalities include Alcalá de Gurrea, Almudévar, Gurrea de Gállego, and Tardienta—also home to EDP wind farms.
Additionally, priority municipalities in EDP’s electricity distribution areas in Cantabria may apply, particularly Arenas de Iguña, Astillero, Valdáliga, Penagos, Valderredible, Camargo, Corvera de Toranzo, and Reocín, as well as Valdés and Cudillero in Asturias, and Barreiros, Viveiro, and Vilalba in Lugo. Eligible Portuguese areas include municipalities in Douro with EDP hydro and renewable assets.

With this expansion, EDP strengthens its commitment to developing initiatives that create employment, promote local entrepreneurship, and help counter rural depopulation.

Since its launch in 2019, Entama has become one of EDP’s key tools for boosting economic activity in the regions where it operates. The program has supported 73 projects, with a total investment of €740,000. Grants of up to €20,000 per project are awarded to innovative, sustainable initiatives with a positive local impact.

As in previous editions, Entama prioritizes projects led by women and those that promote female employability, as well as proposals that encourage the use of local resources and craftsmanship, sustainable tourism, digitalization, and innovation in depopulated municipalities.

Applications are open until November 25, and the jury will evaluate proposals in December, assessing their viability, sustainability, and territorial impact. The selected projects will be announced between December 2025 and January 2026.

Full program details, including eligibility criteria and deadlines, are available on the Entama website.

With this new phase, EDP reaffirms its commitment to a just energy transition, local community development, and cross-border collaboration between Spain and Portugal, expanding Entama’s reach to drive projects that contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and balanced future.
