Draxton and EDP take another step towards global energy transition
EDP, the world leader in renewable energy and a European leader in distributed solar generation, and Draxton, a global company dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of highly engineered components for passenger and commercial vehicles, consolidate their strategic alliance initiated in 2023 to deploy solar projects at Draxton's production centers in Europe and Asia.
Since the beginning of the agreement, four solar installations have been developed at Draxton's plants in Europe and Asia.
In Spain, where a 794 kWp plant was already in operation in Lleida, the smelting plant in Utrillas, Teruel, has recently inaugurated a 3 MWp facility. The infrastructure, built on land with more than 5,000 solar panels, represents a key advance in Draxton's strategy to optimize its energy matrix and significantly reduce its environmental footprint. This plant alone will prevent the emission of more than 400 tons of CO₂ annually, the equivalent of planting more than 96,000 trees.
In Italy, the solar plant is located at Draxton’s facilities in Rovigo (Veneto). With an installed capacity of nearly 1.7 MWp, the plant is made up of almost 3,200 EDP solar panels. Together, these panels will generate close to 2 GWh of clean energy each year, supporting Draxton in meeting its sustainability targets and reducing its environmental footprint.
EDP and Draxton share a common vision: to build a cleaner, more efficient and collaborative energy future, driving innovation for the benefit of society and the environment.
