On World's Energy Day, EDP reinforces importance of fair energy transition
The World Energy Day is observed on May 29, a date that seeks to bring awareness to how important energy is to society. EDP's social projects which took renewable energy to communities have summed 45 kWp of installed capacity, and over 200 educational activities focused in energy themes were performed.
“Our social impact strategy has, as one of its pillars, the Energy of Tomorrow, which includes different initiatives that seed to contribute to increase access to energy, to enable and promote jobs in this sector and to encourage energy efficiency, which is aligned to EDP's global strategy of leading a fair and inclusive energy transition. We also invested in awareness, since we see education as a vector of social transformation”, explains Dominic Schmal, ESG Director of EDP South America.
Solar Community in Jabaeté

The project has been boosting up to 50% in energy bills savings for the benefited institutions, as well as providing use of renewable energy, and also enjoyed professional enabling for its inhabitants in Maintenance and Installation of Photovoltaic Systems, partnering with SENAI. The last stage of this project is planned for this year with the expansion of solar energy to other parts of the community.
Bringing solar energy poles to Piranema
In 2025, EDP has come with Comunidade IN to Piranema, in Cariacica (ES). For three years, the inhabitants will be benefited with different initiatives related to energy transition, power grid improvements and education, with a estimated investment of approximately R$ 3.5 million.
