The company hosts open days in Madrid and Oviedo to showcase talent needs in the energy sector

EDP opened the doors of its Oviedo headquarters and Madrid offices to more than 50 university students, offering them the opportunity to learn firsthand about its facilities, work processes, and teams. This initiative allows young people to interact directly with professionals from the energy sector, understand how the company operates, and explore potential career paths — fostering a stronger connection between higher education and the professional world.

During the open days, students showed great interest and enthusiasm in discovering how EDP is transforming the energy landscape. For Cristina González, a final-year Mathematics student, “events like this are not only enjoyable but also give you a different, more personal perspective of the company through the people you meet.”

Throughout the visit, participants were guided by EDP Ambassadors and the P&OD team, who gave them an inside look at the company — its values, career opportunities, and commitment to sustainability and innovation. Irene Miranda, from EDP Spain’s Procurement department, encouraged the students during a team activity, reminding them that “the future isn’t just something to imagine — it’s something to build, and at EDP, we’re counting on you to do it.”

The company has a strong commitment to university education. A clear example is the Martín González del Valle Scholarship Program, one of the most prestigious initiatives at the University of Oviedo, which will launch its next edition in two weeks. EDP also actively supports STEAM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through several ambassadors who inspire young women to pursue these fields, promoting greater gender balance and a more diverse and inclusive talent pool.

This is the first time EDP has organized an event of this kind, designed as a new way to engage with current and future talent, focusing on recent graduates and final-year university students.

With this initiative, EDP reaffirms its commitment to education, innovation, and the development of young talent, fostering an ecosystem in which universities and companies work hand in hand to shape the professionals of the future.
