In Portugal, supporting the development of communication skills.

The Comunica com Energia, run by EDP employees, supports 9th grade young people in the development of communication skills and environmental citizenship.

Inspire young people to communicate with energy

EDP, with the support of its employee volunteer program, implements the Comunica com Energia program, aimed at 9th grade students, with the objective of developing communication skills in public focused on citizenship and environmental education topics.

 

How the program works

The program, designed and run by EDP employees with recognized communication skills and the ability to work with young students, has the following objectives: 

  • Help students improve their self-esteem and deal with their fears;
  • Improve the ability to organize ideas;
  • To promote team cooperation;
  • To develop critical and mutual help spirit, as well as assertiveness and the ability to give constructive feedback;
  • Create awareness about environmental issues.

In 2019 EDP Production developed and implemented a pilot project in partnership with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, an innovative step for this project. This new format of Communicate with Energy focuses on combining communication components with new audiovisual content, namely the preparation and editing of a video for YouTube. This format makes citizenship and environmental education themes more appealing and relevant to young people.

With this new manual-absed model, the program is very flexible and can be structured according to the needs of each school/class.

 

Editions

The Communicate with Energy program has already been implemented in 15 schools, reaching more than 250 people in 8 editions.
