Hydro and Thermal Production
In Portugal, EDP Production focuses on asset management and risk management, optimization of operations and maintenance of hydro and thermal production centers. There are more than 52 hydroelectric plants and 3 thermoelectric plants that EDP promotes, dynamizes, and manages, supplying energy to the whole country.
In accordance with the EDP Group's policy of environmental sustainability values, 5.5 GW corresponds to installed hydroelectric capacity, with ~75% reservoir and ~45% pumping, subject to the most modern CO2 control and pollutant emission reduction technologies.
