EDP informs about conversations in relation to the natural gas business activity
The current international scenario of the energy market, namely regarding the diversification and security of supply, involves an institutional dimension between States, which is today more relevant for the normal operation of the energy market.
Considering this environment and the referred institutional dimension, EDP and Sonatrach have been maintaining preliminary conversations about a possible partnership for the natural gas business, as disclosed by EDP on January 17th. These conversations continued during the Portuguese Government's visit to Algeria, concluded yesterday. The works developed by both companies enabled the definition of some general aspects orienting the contacts to be maintained.
The on-going negotiation process falls within the scope of EDP's strategic guidelines for the natural gas business, as re-stated yesterday at EDP's 2007-2010 Business Plan presentation.
