Responsible action

We will lead the energy transition, by empowering our people and communities and rebuilding our planet in collaboration

The Energy Transition imperative involves simultaneously addressing an increase in electricity consumption and an increase in renewable sources in the generation mix, demanding changes in customer behaviours and the development of a more robust and integrated energy system.

Sustainability is not our future distant goal; it has been an integral part of our long-term commitment to the environment and the people in all the regions where we operate. Our dedicated efforts have resulted in a remarkable increase in our renewable generation portfolio, growing from 21% in 2005 to over 95% in 2024. We were pioneers in defining a CO2 reduction strategy and achieved the lowest emissions levels ever in 2024.

We are working every day towards a Fair Energy Transition that leaves no-one behind.

Powering change through Sustainable Development Goals

With the world in need of effective changes, in 2015, the United Nations defined 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a more sustainable planet.

Having the belief we all must be agents of change, EDP has set concrete targets for more than half of these SDGs and aims to achieve them by 2030. But only together can we make a difference.
