How do our wind farms work?
Onshore
Located on land, these farms use turbines in rural areas and are among the most cost-effective sources of renewable energy, with a production that already exceeds 7MW per turbine.
Offshore
Located in the sea - either fixed or floating - these farms benefit from stronger winds and tallet turbines, allowing a more efficient electricity production.
Every turbine we install is a step towards cleaner energy and a testament to human capability of adaptation and engineering.

EDP develops and operates both onshore and offshore wind projects as part of its renewable energy portfolio. Wind is a major component of EDP's renewable generation, with projects across North America, Europe and South America.
EDP has 12.5 GW of installed wind capacity, representing 42% of its installed renewable capacity. More than 6.5 GW is located in North America, over 4.5 GW in Europe and more than 1 GW in South America.
EDP's onshore wind farms are located on land and use turbines that can already exceed 7 MW per turbine. Offshore wind farms are located at sea and can use either fixed or floating foundations, benefiting from stronger winds and larger turbines for more efficient electricity generation.
EDP's wind portfolio includes onshore and offshore projects in several countries. Examples include the Alta da Coutada wind farm in Portugal, Sharp Hills in Canada, EDP Group's large wind farm complex in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, WindFloat Atlantic in Portugal and Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland.
