Parpública increases its ownership interest in the share capital of EDP

On September 30, 2010, PARPÚBLICA – Participações Públicas (SGPS), S.A. notified EDP to the increase of a qualifying holding of 20.05% to 22.55% of the share capital of EDP. The change in participation is a result of the acquisition of 91,413,443 category A shares (representing 2.50% of EDP's share capital) from Caixa Geral de Depósitos, S.A.

On September 30, 2010, PARPÚBLICA – Participações Públicas (SGPS), S.A. ("Parpública") notified EDP to the increase of a qualifying holding of 20.05% to 22.55% of the share capital of EDP. The change in participation is a result of the acquisition of 91,413,443 category A shares (representing 2.50% of EDP's share capital) from Caixa Geral de Depósitos, S.A. ("CGD").

As a result of this transaction, Parpública now holds 824.564.155 shares, representing 22.55% of EDP's share capital. Given the limitation set forth in article 14 3) and 4) of the Articles of Association of EDP and taking into account the shares held by CGD, from the percentage of capital referred to above (22.55%) Parpública may exercise a minimum of 22.16% of voting rights.
