EDP Activates Crisis Plan Amid Iberian Blackout
Due to the widespread failures in the Iberian electrical system observed this Monday, EDP immediately activated the global crisis committee and crisis committees in each of its businesses to ensure a coordinated and effective response in alignment with the authorities.
EDP's power plants played a fundamental role in restoring the Iberian energy supply by effectively responding throughout the day to authorities’ mobilisation orders to restore both Portugal and Spain’s electricity supply.
In the distribution networks, which in Portugal benefited from an integrated management, the Operational Crisis Action Plan was immediately activated at the highest state of emergency, and all teams were mobilised to ensure the restoration of electricity to all clients. Also in customer service, EDP sought to maintain the quality and speed of its service within the existing limitations.
During the morning (Portugal and Spain local time) energy supply was fully restored due to the incredible dedication and efforts of the team in the field and a strict cooperation with all entities involved.
