On May 11, 2010, Barclays Plc (Barclays) notified EDP that, in accordance with article 20 of the Portuguese Securities Code, it came to hold 78,490,590 ordinary shares of EDP, which corresponds to 2.15% of EDP's share capital and 2.17% of the respective voting rights. The significant shareholding resulted from the acquisition off-market of 22,628,563 shares by Barclays Capital Securities, Ltd (a subsidiary of Barclays Plc) on May 5, 2010.

Barclays also informed that the chain of entities (controlled by Barclays Plc) relevant for the calculation of the significant shareholding in accordance with number 1 of article 20 of the Portuguese Securities Code are the following:

- Barclays Capital Inc, which holds 2,973,100 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.08% of EDP's share capital and 0.08% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays Capital Securities Ltd, which holds 73,605,372 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 2.01% of EDP's share capital and 2.03% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays Bank Trust Company Ltd, which holds 4,500 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.0001% of EDP's share capital and 0.0001% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays Capital Luxembourg SaRL, which holds 540,000 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.01% of EDP's share capital and 0.01% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays BanK SA, which holds 30,000 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.001% of EDP's share capital and 0.001% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays BanK Plc, which holds 398,575 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.01% of EDP's share capital and 0.01% of the respective voting rights;

- Barclays Wealth Managers Portugal - SGFIM, S.A., which holds 939,043 ordinary shares of EDP, corresponding to 0.03% of EDP's share capital and 0.03% of the respective voting rights;
