In Spain, EDP opens the doors of some of its wind farms.

To celebrate World Wind Day, every year EDP opens the doors of some of its wind farms and organizes various activities for the populations of the locations where they are located.

Good winds

On 15 June, we celebrate World Wind Day, an event instituted in 2007 by the European Wind Energy Association, with the objective of praising the importance of this element as a producer of renewable energy and to reinforce society's awareness of the importance of sustainability.

To mark the date, in Spain, EDP opens the doors of some of its wind farms every year, carrying out various initiatives for children and families, including:

  • Educational activities
  • Sports activities
  • Puppet theater
  • Kite contests
  • Magic shows
  • Drawing contests

Wind Day 2022

In 2022, EDP held an open day at the Piedrahita - El Castillo wind complex on the morning of June 16, together with its local partner, Grupo Térvalis, which was attended by more than a hundred students from schools in the surrounding municipalities of Monreal del Campo, Oliete, Alacón and Muniesa, accompanied by their teachers.

Several activities were held, including a puppet theater, sports activities - such as badminton and trampoline jumping - and a drawing contest.

The initiatives promoted annually by EDP to mark the date aim to publicize the benefits of wind energy and its relevance to the environment, people's well-being and the planet's sustainability.
