Wind energy

We harness the power of the wind

At EDP, we believe in the limitless potential of wind energy.
This abundant and renewable resource is one of the cleanest ways to generate electricity, harnessing the natural power of the wind to drive a more sustainable future. Wind energy can be captured both day and night, across diverse landscapes, from rolling hills to coastal areas and even offshore.

At EDP, we continue to expand this technology, recognizing its vital role in the energy transition and its contribution to creating a cleaner, more flexible, and sustainable energy system.

A limitless source of power
As we continue to expand our reach, we are committed to harnessing this limitless source of power, transforming the way we generate electricity and paving the way for a sustainable future.

How do our wind farms work?

Wind farms generate renewable electricity from wind and are classified as onshore or offshore.
They are essential to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting a sustainable energy future

Onshore

Located on land, these farms use turbines in rural areas and are among the most cost-effective sources of renewable energy, with a production that already exceeds 7MW per turbine.

Offshore

Located in the sea - either fixed or floating - these farms benefit from stronger winds and tallet turbines, allowing a more efficient electricity production.

Our wind portfolio

Every turbine we install is a step towards cleaner energy and a testament to human capability of adaptation and engineering.
From onshore giants dotting rural landscapes to offshore wonders braving the open seas, these projects demonstrate our commitment to pushing the boundaries of renewable energy.

Building a brighter future with sustainable energy

Discover how we work through innovation to expand renewable energy solutions.

Hybridisation
Hybridisation is the ability to use a single connection point to the grid to deliver energy generated by different technologies - hydro, solar, wind and storage.
EDP has invested significantly in hybridization as a way to promote a more sustainable future. Learn more about what we have been doing in this area.
