Battery energy storage system

On March 13th 2023 a BESS System was inaugurated in Terceira island.

The BESS - Battery Energy Storage System has an installed power of 15MW, distributed by six inverters and a storage capacity of 10.5 MWh.

The project, developed by EDA - Eletricidade dos Açores, results from a consortium between Siemens and Fluence and had the collaboration of EDP Labelec in the electrical laboratory tests and validation of solutions.

This new BESS System aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, making the island's renewable production profitable.
