EDP secures PPA for a 140 MWac solar project in the US

Lisbon, December 15th, 2022: EDP - Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”), through its 74.98% owned subsidiary EDP Renováveis, S.A. (“EDPR”), has secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) to sell the green energy produced by a 140 MWac solar project in the state of Illinois, US. The project is expected to enter in operation in 2024.

With this new project, EDPR has now >55% GW secured out of the 20 GW target additions for 2021-25 announced in EDPR Capital Markets Day in February 2021. Additionally, this transaction enables EDPR to reach 2.9 GW of solar PV capacity secured in North America, out of a total of 4.8 GW already secured in the region for 2021-25 which compares to the 8.8 GW target established for North America.

EDPR's success in securing new PPAs reinforces its low-risk profile and growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with long-term visibility, fostering the acceleration of the energy transition and the decarbonization of the economy.
