Get to know the Energia do Bairro project, starting on September 1 in the Porto Metropolitan Area (north of the Douro River).

Save up to €200 per year on electricity and installation, with the offer of 2 solar panels through this EDP social impact program, in partnership with AdEPorto - Porto Energy Agency.

To take part, you must live in a single-family house (owned or rented) in one of the following locations: Porto, Matosinhos, Gondomar, Maia, Valongo, Paredes, Vila do Conde, Santo Tirso, Póvoa de Varzim, Trofa.

What is the "Energia do Bairro" project:

With the Energia do Bairro project, EDP will deliver solar panel kits to homes in Porto, to help reduce household energy costs.

A solar panel is a device that converts energy from sunlight into electricity. This electricity can be used to provide power to a home, helping reduce its electricity bill.

We estimate that installing a solar panel can save up to €200 per year.

No, we won’t be making any changes to your current meter.

Up to 600 solar panels will be delivered to 300 families in this community.

Participants who register their home will be subject to a technical visit to confirm whether the installation of a solar panel  is possible.

Yes, however, priority will be given to those who do not have any solar panels installed.

No, the solar panel can only be used for a single household.

To register for this project, you must go to one of the following locations:

  • A recent energy bill for your home (electricity or gas)
  • Proof that you are a beneficiary of a social electricity or gas tariff
  • Proof that you receive one of the following social benefits:
    • Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly
    • Social Integration Income
    • Social Unemployment Benefit
    • Family Allowance
    • Social Disability Pension
    • Social Inclusion Benefit Supplement
    • Social Old-Age Pension

 

Yes, only one registration per household is allowed—that is, only one member from each home can register.

After all registrations are collected, homes will be selected based on the priority criteria we have set, with priority given to those who register first. The initially selected homes will receive a technical visit from EDP to ensure that conditions are suitable for installing the solar panel.

After the technical visit, you will be contacted by EDP if your home has been selected.

No, this project does not require any costs or obligations from the selected participants.

Technical Specifications:

The solar panel has a total power of 800 Wp and comes with a 10-year warranty.

No, it is completely safe.

The installation will be handled by EDP.

Generally, installation conditions are met, but there are some reasons that may make installation unfeasible, including: electrical grid without grounding protection; types of roof tiles that do not allow proper and secure fixing of the structures (e.g., metal sheets); and poor roof conditions (e.g., brittle tiles).
