EDP launches global female mentorship program for students and young professionals
EDP has just opened applications for a global program designed to support students and young professionals in the first three years of their careers — SheMentors. Through female-led mentorship, delivered by EDP professionals, this initiative reinforces the company’s commiment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Applications are open until October 1.
The SheMentors initiative offers a six-month mentorship journey, combining one-on-one sessions with global workshops held in hybrid or remote formats. The program kicks off on October 10 and will conclude symbolically on International Women’s Day.
The program aims to support participants’ professional development by offering them the opportunity to learn from EDP women professionals of different nationalities and business areas, who will share their experiences and insights. Throughout the journey, participants are encouraged to set clear goals, strengthen key skills, build confidence, and enrich their professional profiles. In addition, the program fosters the creation of a strong professional network, enabling connections with peers and mentors across different geographies.
“At EDP, we believe inclusion begins with real opportunities. We understand that the first steps in a career can be challenging, which is why we created this program — to offer guidance, inspiration, and real leadership role models. By integrating female mentorship into this global initiative, we reinforce our commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, while also recognizing the talent of our professionals and supporting the next generation in building their future," says Paula Carneiro, Head of People & Organization at EDP.
The program is open to students of any gender, recent graduates, and young professionals with up to three years of experience who are looking to develop new skills and explore growth opportunities. Applicants should have basic knowledge of digital tools, as the program will be conducted in a hybrid or remote format, and a good command of English, Portuguese, or Spanish to ensure full participation in the mentoring sessions and workshops. All mentors will be women professionals from EDP.
This initiative is part of the launch of EDP’s new Gender Equality Plan for 2025–2026 — an annual commitment to promoting gender equality across the organization. The plan outlines a set of actions and initiatives aimed at accelerating gender balance and fostering inclusion in all areas of our business. Among these initiatives is SheMentors, which reflects EDP’s long-term commitment to contributing to a more equitable and inclusive energy sector by supporting and empowering the next generation of talent.
