This European association brings together over 3,500 power generation, distribution and marketing companies.

As of today, António Mexia is the new president of EURELECTRIC, being the first Portuguese CEO to lead the association that brings together all major industry players in Europe. On behalf of EDP, the manager now takes on the leadership of the association. At a time when the industry is under transformation, one of the association's priorities is increasing focus on the customer.

Elected for two years, António Mexia rises from the vice-presidency to leadership by integrating a team consisting of Alistair Phillips Davies, CEO of Scottish Southern Energy, and Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of EDF, who will both act as vice-presidents.

'It is an honor to head a leading team in this industry,' said António Mexia at the beginning of the sector's annual conference taking place in Berlin. On the sector's priorities, EDP's president highlights 'making the real value of electric power transparent and ensuring focus on the client, working simultaneously on the effective construction of the European internal energy market while strengthening the agenda for the decarbonization of the economy.
