Doctors, nurses, long-term care units and other more vulnerable communities are among the beneficiaries of this new benefit package. These are measures that reinforce the support that the EDP group has given, at various levels, in the current context of the pandemic.

EDP, through EDP Comercial, is preparing a package of offers to reinforce support for professionals from the National Health Service (NHS) who are on the front line of the fight against Covid-19, as well as the most vulnerable communities in the current context.

In this sense, EDP Comercial will offer a 20% discount on electricity consumption to doctors, nurses and technicians of the NHS for two months (April and May). With this measure, we recognize and support health professionals who are involved in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19, as well as their families. It is estimated that this action could benefit 50 thousand health professionals who are customers of EDP Comercial.

Another measure involves offering a 20% discount on electricity consumption, in the next two months, to integrated continuous care units and residential structures that house the disabled people, children and other vulnerable communities. This action may benefit 500 institutions, customers of EDP Comercial, who apply through the www.edp.pt website.

This week, the Fundação EDP has already announced its support for elderly homes, through the purchase of protective material worth 500 thousand euros. With this additional measure, EDP Comercial wants to reinforce aid to other entities in this segment.

EDP Comercial thus reinforces the support provided to its customers in the current pandemic context, after having already announced the suspension of power cuts and the possibility of making payments flexible for up to six months without interest to customers in greater difficulties.

These initiatives join the decision to provide free energy to the hotels that are requested to provide support to hospitals in the current pandemic phase, a service that will be guaranteed as long as the requisition period is maintained.

The EDP group stands by the Portuguese in this critical period and has made an important contribution on several fronts. One of the most relevant actions is the acquisition of 50 ventilators, 200 medical monitors and other equipment, worth 4 million euros, in partnership with China Three Gorges (CTG), to be made available to Portuguese hospitals.
