The Environment and Sustainability Council is one of the oldest functional bodies of EDP, with statutory provisions expressed since 1991.

The Environment and Sustainability Board has certain consultative powers with the Executive Board of Directors on environmental matters, including advising and supporting the latter in defining the corporate strategy for the environment and sustainability and formulating opinions and recommendations on the environmental impact of projects to be promoted by the EDP Group.
