The 3rd edition of the contest begins on January 26. All 'garage bands', of all musical areas may apply. It requires talent and determination to play at the best summer festivals: The NOS Alive, in Lisbon, and the Bilbao BBK Live. In addition to debuting at these events, the winners will record their 1st album with Sony Music.
The success of previous editions justifies the internationalization of the initiative.
EDP Live Bands debuts this year in Brazil, a country that EDP has had a connection with for 20 years and which is renowned for its creativity and its intense artistic and cultural activity.
'The promotion of young talents, whether in music or other artistic categories, as well as encouraging sports activities are central aspects of EDP's social investment strategy,' said Paulo Campos Costa, the EDP Group's Global Director of Brand Marketing and Communication.
The winning band at the EDP Live Bands Brazil will perform at NOS Alive, alongside the band that wins the Portuguese edition.
More than 650 bands have entered the EDP Live Bands competition. After the selection made by the jury of the contest, the young musicians will take part in a workshop with renowned experts in the music industry. It will be an opportunity to share experiences and advice on how to make a career in the competitive artistic world. The workshop continues in this year's editions.
In 2014, EDP Live Bands gave the victory to Caelum's Edge, a band that is preparing to release their 1st album. In the 2nd edition, the prize went to the Cavaliers of Fun, with musician Daniel Kamish receiving an honorable mention and also performing at NOS Alive.
In addition to the investment in this new EDP Live Bands transatlantic edition, 2016 is, again, a year of big investment in the music world. EDP reiterates its position as the official music power supplier, supporting a set of events and music festivals that will take place over the coming months in and outside of Portugal.
