EDP, through EDP Produção, will deliver vehicles to social and non-profit institutions in municipalities where the company has energy production centers. Entities wishing to apply for this initiative can do so from this week until July 30th, through the EDP website.

This action is part of a social investment program in the regions where EDP is active, and with which it intends to donate used vehicles to support social actions and initiatives in local communities. Applications will be evaluated between August and September, with results expected to be released, and vehicles delivered, in the last quarter of this year.

Institutions eligible to apply for the available vehicles range from firefighters, sports, recreational and environmental associations to benevolent, private social solidarity institutions and regional authority, among others that meet the application criteria. These criteria include recognized social and civic intervention in the community, having non-profit goals, having their tax and social security situation regularized and not having received vehicles in the last three years, among other rules available for consultation in the regulation.

Each candidate institution can only receive one vehicle, and must indicate their preference among the available options. These vehicles – for passengers, commercial, transportation vans, pick-ups and trams – have been in operation for eight years or 200,000 kilometers (in the case of trams, they must have 160,000 kilometers or 60% of the operating battery capacity). With this action, the vehicles are completely renewed before being delivered, and gain a new use that benefits the population where the selected entity is located.

The donation of vehicles to communities is, in fact, a practice that EDP has been promoting for some years, having as recipients different types of institutions, such as firefighter groups, parish councils, social solidarity institutions, among others. Since 2016, EDP has already donated 25 vehicles to these entities, with an estimated value of 240 thousand euros.

This is just one of the various practices provided for in EDP Production's Investment Plan, that the company has been developing for several years in the regions where it has production centers, and which includes several of its own programs. These include, for example, 'Share with Energy', one of the programs aimed at young students in these areas, or 'Traditions', a project focused on communities and their origins and customs, which has now become a differentiating brand.
