EDP certified, for the first time worldwide, as a family-responsible company

Monday 19, June 2023

EDP's good practices in reconciling personal and professional life have once again been certified. This distinction is awarded, for the first time, on a global level, valuing support initiatives for the more than 13 thousand employees of the group.

EDP has once again been certified as a "family-responsible company" (efr), a distinction that is awarded this year, for the first time, to the entire group. This certification - which the company has received since 2013 and which now gains a global dimension - thus reinforces the excellence of the various measures for reconciling work and personal life that the group promotes among its more than 13,000 employees in the 29 countries where it is present.

As a family-responsible company, EDP continuously invests in programs and initiatives that provide an increasingly human and inclusive experience and reflect a common commitment: the well-being of all employees. In this sense, the company has built a path in recent years in efr certification processes in Spain and Portugal, which it has received since 2013. But with the updating of the group's Strategic Plan, which reinforced the ambition to evolve into a global, agile, and efficient company, it was also decided to extend the well-being strategy, involving all the group's companies. A path that thus led to the first global efr certification of the EDP group.

Promoted by the Másfamilia entity, the efr global certification process analysed in detail, through internal and external audits, the implementation of this strategy in the group, as well as compliance with the five strategic pillars of an efr company: family support, professional and personal development, flexibility of time and space, equal opportunities, and quality at work.

By promoting an increasingly healthy, balanced and inclusive work environment, where employees' well-being and conciliation are a priority, EDP demonstrates that people are at the heart of its strategy. EDP believes that the balance between work and family life is fundamental to achieving more competitive companies and a fairer society based on flexibility, respect, and equal opportunities. It will therefore continue to work towards being an efr company, investing and deepening its strategic vision on this matter and challenging its stakeholders.
