EDP won the concession for the construction and exploitation of a hydroelectric power plant in Peru through Hydro Global. With this it entered a new geography in Latin America.

This project located on the San Gaban river in the south of the country will have a capacity of 206 MW, which will guarantee the supply of around 400,000 houses.

Hydro Global is owned in equal shares by EDP and China Three Gorges (CTG) and aims to develop small and medium-sized hydroelectric projects in emerging markets. CTG owns 23.26% of EDP's capital.

The concession contract for the new hydroelectric power plant in Peru will last for 30 years and the construction will be carried out by CWE, a company that belongs to the CTG universe.
